Chicago winters can be rough. They can make even the most adventurous person admit defeat to a blanket and eight hours of the same TV show.  But fear not! Chicago is also known for never giving in. So when the weather gets cold, grab the family and head outside to some of the best the city has to offer during the winter! Check out this list of the best events in February around the city:

ICE SKATING AT LINCOLN PARK ZOO (February 3-26): Lincoln Park Zoo is offering two perfect family activities! Ice skating in the zoo? Yes, please! Go skating in the barn with goats, ponies and more, then warm up with winter drinks and snacks. The event is open to all ages with $5 admission and $5 skate rental if needed. CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR PARADE (February 5): Celebrate the Year of the Rooster in Chinatown at the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade. This free, family-friendly event is sure to put a smile on your face, featuring traditional Lion and Dragon teams, creative floats, marching bands and colorful fireworks! With all the excitement you, won’t even notice the cold.

GOSPEL BRUNCH AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES (February 5) If you think you’ve done it all in Chicago, there may be one thing you’re missing. The Gospel Brunch at The House of Blues is an experience unlike any other. Guests will enjoy a delicious all- you-can-eat buffet, including the HOB special: chicken and waffles! But it doesn’t stop there, because while you’re eating, traditional and contemporary gospel performances from local artists will grace the stage and fill the room with music. CHICAGO AUTO SHOW (February 11-20): Head over to McCormick Place for one of the coolest shows in town. The Chicago Auto Show has nearly 1,000 cars and displays that are fun for the whole family. From futuristic concept cars, to old classics, test-drives and concerts, The Auto Show will keep everyone talking shop. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for kids and seniors.

CHICAGO BOTANIC GARDEN ORCHID SHOW: (February 11- March 26) At this mesmerizing event, you will forget all about winter and be amazed by thousands of beautiful orchids! This year’s show takes a playful look at orchids and popular culture and will feature rare flowers from around the world. MONSTER JAM CHICAGO 2017 (February 17-20): Located right outside the city at the Allstate Arena is one of the loudest, craziest shows you will ever experience. Watch as the most famous names in monster trucks race, freestyle and perform right before your eyes. Have you ever wanted to see cars getting smashed? Monster trucks flipped? Flame throwing cars?
