Labor Day marks one of the last weekends for summer family fun before the kids go back to school. Create plenty of memories for years to come by visiting Chicago for the first time – or coming back for the 100th time – to enjoy these incredible events.

Here are 5 ways to spend your Labor Day weekend in Chicago this year.

1. Chicago Jazz Festival

Starting on August 24th, the 40th annual Chicago Jazz Festival will take place at various jazz bars, parks, and pavilions throughout the city. These free concerts and events feature both new and legendary jazz musicians (including the iconic Ramsey Lewis playing at the Pritzker Pavilion on Saturday, September 1st).

2. Great American Lobster Fest

Enjoy fresh, live lobster from August 31st to September 2nd on Navy Pier. The fun won’t end with great seafood – you and your family can also enjoy live music, games and activities, arts and crafts vendors, cold drinks, and much more!

3. Navy Pier Summer Fireworks

Your last chance to see the spectacular free fireworks show at Navy Pier is happening on September 1st. The show starts at 10:15pm, but you can explore the pier prior to that – including enjoying the Lobster Fest (above) and other options, such as wonderful restaurants, boat tours, and more.

4. Amplified: Chicago Blues at the Chicago History Museum

Enjoy Chicagoan musical history as you go back in time to see how Southern black migrants introduced the blues to the city. Amplified: Chicago Blues includes the photography of Raeburn Flerlage – who captured the Chicago blues scene in the 1960’s, as well as interactive activities for the whole family.
